SAFER ROADS ACT PASSES HOUSE

A COMMUNITY VICTORY NEARLY TWENTY YEARS IN THE MAKING

Yesterday (06/22/2022), the Rhode Island House of Representatives has passed the Safer Roads Act guaranteeing driving privileges to all undocumented people in the state. This marks the first time in close to 20 years that both chambers have made the decision to pass this legislation. Community members enthusiastically celebrated the vote with applause, tears and cheers.

This is a big win for a community filled with big hearts. The Immigrant Coalition of Rhode Island extends it’s gratitude to all legislators and sponsors who have dedicated their years to this cause. The Coalition is proud of all it’s partners and community members who have dedicated their time to showing up year after year shuffling through sessions to make Rhode Island a safer place for all.

Dedicated to Eduardo Sandoval.
